The "Red Heart" Rose of Sharon, Hibiscus syriacus, is a unique and colorful shrub that lends an unusually exotic and elegant eye appeal to landscapes. Another rare summer-blooming hibiscus, "Red Heart" flowers typically open in midsummer to reveal huge saucer-shaped flowers measuring 3" to 5" across. The soft white petals sharply contrast to a ruby-red splash in the heart of the flower. Highly fragrant blossoms attract butterflies and hummingbirds to their sweet scent, plentiful nectar, and pollen. Although a rapid grower, even as a young plant "Red Heart" puts on numerous fragrant blossoms. These summertime blossoms bloom for months at a time, until the first frosts occur.
